Overview

BCOM304 is a supervised experiential course in which students apply commerce knowledge and professional skills within an approved business, public-sector, nonprofit, or related organizational placement. Placements may involve accounting, marketing, finance, human resources, operations, entrepreneurship, sales, administration, analytics, or other relevant business functions.

Students establish learning goals with an academic supervisor and workplace mentor, undertake defined responsibilities or a project, and maintain an activity and learning log. The course addresses workplace conduct, professional communication, confidentiality, organizational information security, health and safety, inclusion, ethical practice, and responsible decision-making.

Academic requirements include placement approval, orientation, progress monitoring, workplace supervisor feedback, evidence of achieved competencies, and reflective and analytical assessment. Students connect workplace experience with commerce concepts, evaluate their professional development, and identify future learning and career priorities.
