Overview
This capstone examines reliable, ethical, and safety-conscious navigation of authorized websites and simulated online storefronts. Students evaluate product pages, distinguish primary purchase controls from advertisements and navigation elements, verify product identity and options, and review price, quantity, availability, shipping, seller information, and return policies before proceeding.
The course emphasizes accessibility, misleading interface patterns, counterfeit and fraudulent listings, privacy protection, secure checkout indicators, and deliberate confirmation before payment submission. Students demonstrate their decision path through screen-free workflow diagrams, annotated screenshots, written task logs, and a capstone report without completing an unintended purchase.
Learning Outcomes
- Execute a reliable sequence for locating an authorized product page and identifying the appropriate purchase control.
- Evaluate product identity, pricing, quantity, options, availability, shipping information, seller details, and return policies before purchase authorization.
- Distinguish legitimate purchase controls from advertisements, deceptive interface elements, and unrelated navigation links.
- Identify accessibility barriers, counterfeit indicators, fraudulent listings, privacy risks, and insecure checkout conditions.
- Analyze ambiguous or high-risk purchasing situations and determine when assistance or further verification is required.
- Construct clear workflow documentation using annotated screenshots, diagrams, or written task logs.
- Defend an ethical and safety-conscious purchasing decision through a capstone report supported by appropriate evidence.
