Overview
This course examines the taxation of companies, partnerships, trusts, and commercial transactions in domestic and cross-border business environments. It covers corporate income tax, taxable profit determination, deductions, capital allowances, loss utilization, group taxation, dividends, withholding taxes, and indirect taxes.
Students analyze the tax consequences of financing arrangements, reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, business disposals, contracts, sales, leases, agency relationships, intellectual property, employment-related transactions, and alternative business structures. The course integrates statutory interpretation, administrative guidance, case law, anti-avoidance principles, transfer pricing fundamentals, and professional ethics.
