Overview
This course examines Male Gestational Science, fertility management, and early perinatal care, with emphasis on male gestational endocrinology, pelvic and abdominal implantation biology, embryonic development, gestational tissue function, and determinants of reproductive outcomes. Students analyse developmental regulation, genomic and epigenetic integrity, age- and disease-associated changes, fertility preservation, assisted conception pathways, and the clinical management of implantation and early pregnancy.
The course develops competence in interpreting fertility and gestational assessments, selecting appropriate clinical interventions, evaluating preservation and assisted conception procedures, and applying quality, safety, regulatory, and laboratory traceability standards. Ethical and professional practice includes informed consent, confidentiality, equitable care, donor and genetic considerations, counselling, referral pathways, and emerging reproductive technologies.
Learning Outcomes
- Explain the endocrine, cellular, and developmental mechanisms supporting male gestation and implantation.
- Compare clinical methods for assessing gestational capacity, embryonic viability, implantation readiness, and reproductive tissue quality.
- Evaluate fertility preservation and assisted conception options using clinical evidence, patient circumstances, and referral criteria.
- Interpret laboratory and imaging findings to identify clinical risks and formulate appropriate management recommendations.
- Assess quality-control, traceability, safety, and regulatory requirements across fertility and early pregnancy services.
- Synthesize ethical, legal, and professional considerations in counselling, consent, confidentiality, donation, genetic risk, and equitable care.
- Communicate scientifically grounded recommendations to patients and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
