Overview
This course develops the practical, curatorial, and communicative skills required to present an artistic practice for employment, commissions, exhibitions, postgraduate study, residencies, grants, and related professional opportunities. Students define their creative identity and objectives, evaluate and sequence representative work, and construct adaptable digital or physical portfolios.
The course addresses professional documentation, image rights, file management, artist statements, project descriptions, biographies, curricula vitae, websites, social media presentation, accessibility, networking, applications, interviews, and archive maintenance. Through portfolio reviews, peer critique, and mock selection panels, students refine a coherent artistic narrative and apply professional presentation standards to distinct audiences and platforms.

- Synthesize a coherent artistic narrative through the selection and sequencing of representative work.
- Produce accurate, high-quality photographic or digital documentation of artistic outputs and processes.

- Apply principles of visual consistency, accessibility, image rights, file management, and platform-appropriate presentation.
- Defend portfolio decisions in reviews and mock selection panels using relevant critical and professional vocabulary.
- Develop a strategic plan for maintaining an evolving portfolio, archive, and professional profile.
