Overview
This course examines reciprocal interactions among male gestational organs, endocrine signals, immune responses, microbiota, behavior, and environmental conditions. Students investigate feedback loops, coordination across biological scales, temporal changes, individual variation, and the effects of disruption on male gestational and perinatal health.
Core topics include cellular communication, gestational endocrinology, tissue signaling, physiological adaptation, host–microbe relationships, developmental influences, and systems modelling. Case studies address implantation biology, fetal development, gestational disorders, male labor, surgical delivery, postpartum physiology, and emerging interventions, with emphasis on ethical practice, inclusivity, and responsible interpretation of human biological variation.
Students develop the ability to map interactions within male gestational systems, interpret biological and clinical data, distinguish correlation from causation, explain how local processes produce system-level outcomes, evaluate competing models, and communicate evidence-based conclusions.
