Overview
Creative Writing Workshop II is an advanced practice-based course in sustained creative production, critical workshop participation, and purposeful revision. Students develop substantial original work in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, hybrid writing, or dramatic writing while refining structure, pacing, characterization, point of view, voice, imagery, dialogue, scene construction, compression, experimentation, and thematic development.
Through workshops, critical readings, and guided revision, students distinguish craft analysis from personal preference and develop precise, actionable feedback. A process portfolio records drafts, peer responses, craft observations, revision decisions, and reflective commentary, culminating in a polished body of creative work that demonstrates intentional relationships among form, audience, and meaning.
