Overview
Creative Practice Foundations introduces the habits, vocabulary, and processes that support creative work across disciplines. Students investigate ideation, observation, imagination, research-led making, divergent and convergent thinking, visual and sensory language, composition, form, space, time, materiality, craft, iteration, prototyping, documentation, and safe studio practice.
Through short projects, students experiment with drawing, collage, image-making, sound, movement, text, three-dimensional materials, digital tools, and hybrid forms without requiring technical specialization. Critique is established as a constructive method involving description, analysis, interpretation, questioning, and revision. Students maintain a process journal or portfolio documenting decisions, failures, feedback, development, sources, and influences, culminating in a coherent body of exploratory work with reflective commentary.

- Document creative processes, cite relevant sources and influences, and maintain appropriate studio records.
- Evaluate creative work against stated intentions, contextual references, and formal or sensory criteria.
- Present a coherent body of exploratory work with reflective commentary on process, outcomes, and future development.
